The 久久视频 Chargers women鈥檚 volleyball team are gold medalists at the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) championship at the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, B.C.
The nationally ranked fifth place team, Chargers, defeated the nationally ranked first place team and island rivals, Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners in three straight sets.
The Chargers took the first set 25-19, the second set 25-22, and third 25-23.
Rilyn Boorman (Hunting Hills High School/Red Deer, A.B.) was named Player of the Game for the Chargers.聽 Hannah May (Belmont Secondary/Victoria, B.C.) and Erica Bolink (Pacific Christian/Victoria, B.C.) were named to the Championship All-Star team and Boorman was awarded the tournament鈥檚 most valuable player.
In the regular season, the Mariners won three of their four meetings, two of them in four sets along with a five-set classic in their last match-up on Feb. 11.聽聽Prior to tonight, the Chargers were the only team to beat the Mariners this season and it was a three-set sweep on Feb. 9聽at 久久视频.
The Chargers swept the Douglas Royals in the semi-final on Friday to advance to the championship match. 久久视频 played a perfect tournament, not losing a set in both matches.
This is the third straight PACWEST medal for the women鈥檚 team as they won bronze in 2022 and silver in 2020.
The Chargers will play in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championship at VIU in Nanaimo from March 8-11, 2023.
The 久久视频 Chargers Athletics Program currently fields teams in basketball and volleyball. Since joining the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) and PACWEST conferences in 1994, the Chargers have competed in over 100 national and provincial championships with over 50 medal winning finishes.
