Award description

The Babcock Canada Indigenous Student Award of Excellence is a non-repayable award to recognize and support an outstanding Indigenous student pursuing their education in the School of Technology or Business. This award is designed to empower Indigenous students to achieve academic excellence while potentially fostering aspirations towards a career with Babcock.

Criteria

Criteria

  • Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, or Metis)
  • Be enrolled full-time in any program within the School of Technology or Business at 久久视频 College in the 12 months prior to the award application deadline.
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance, with a minimum GPA of 5.0 (B).
  • Preference will be given to a student who express an interest in pursuing a career aligned with Babcock's areas of operation, which include but are not limited to engineering, technology, business management, Human Resources and related industries of Marine, Aviation or Land.
  • Provide a letter of support from the student鈥檚 First Nation, Native Friendship Centre, Community Leader or Sponsor demonstrating their involvement in the community or Indigenous Advocacy.

Application process

Selection process

  • Online application will be available from Nov 1 - Jan 31.
  • Complete applications must be submitted by Jan 31. All supporting documentation must be received by this date. Late, incomplete, or printed applications will not be accepted.
  • Adjudication of this award will be managed by the Financial Aid & Awards office. All decisions are final.
  • The successful recipient will be notified by email no later than 6 weeks after the award application closing date.
  • Award will be applied directly to the student's 久久视频 account. If tuition and fees have already been paid, the surplus amount will be refunded.
  • Entrance awards cannot be deferred to a future semester or year.

Additional Information

  • Students receiving Persons with Disabilities or Income Assistance should speak with Financial Aid & Awards and their Ministry case worker to discuss how bursary funds may impact their government assistance.
  • Bursary funds are considered income. A statement for income tax purposes will be sent to recipients by 久久视频.
  • Bursary recipients are encouraged to write a thank you letter to the donor; thank you letters can be submitted to Financial Aid & Awards at either campus.
