Indigenization Initiative - Policy

At พรพรสำฦต, Indigenization incorporates the values, principles, and teachings of Naโ€™tsaโ€™maht โ€“ a Lekwungen term meaning โ€œunity or working together as one.โ€ Indigenization broadens the college's capacity to recognize, respect, acknowledge and integrate Indigenous worldviews.ย

พรพรสำฦต's Indigenization Initiatives

พรพรสำฦต's Indigenization Initiatives are aligned with BC'sย ย and theย . The vision, goals, actions, and planning contexts are upheld by theย Indigenization Policy.

Indigenization policy

Indigenization is a strongย indicator of พรพรสำฦตโ€™s leadership role in regard to Indigenous adult education in British Columbia and beyond. Depicted as aย four corner-post model, Indigenization is reflective of the traditional longhouses of the Lekwungen and WฬฑSรNEฤ† peoples upon whose territories the college resides. Indigenization incorporates the values, principles, and teachings of Naโ€™tsaโ€™maht โ€“ a Lekwungen term meaning โ€œunity or working together as one.โ€ The purpose of this policy is to articulate the commitment and vision of พรพรสำฦต College in its ongoing work of Indigenization across and within all areas of the College.

Indigenization broadens the college's capacity to recognize, respect, acknowledge and integrate Indigenous worldviews by:

  • making the institution more welcoming and relevant to Indigenous learners;
  • preparing non-Indigenous students, graduates, and employees to better understand and co-exist with Indigenous peoples;
  • demonstrating พรพรสำฦตโ€™s capacity for creativity, innovation, and imagination, and
  • enhancing พรพรสำฦตโ€™s goal to be a college of life-changing learning.
