U-Pass with Umo

Enrolled þƵ students are eligible for a bus pass (U-Pass). Umo is the electronic fare system students use to get on a bus.

Each term or enrollment period, the college will provide students with a unique benefit code to activate their U-Pass with Umo.

Obtaining your U-Pass

You can choose to use either the Umo app or a reloadable Umo card as your U-Pass—you cannot use both. Since the app includes travel tools, such as real-time information, maps, and alerts, it is BC Transit’s recommended fare product.

Redeeming your benefit code on the app

  1. Download the Umo Mobility mobile app from theǰ
  2. Create an Umo account. We recommend you use an email address as your username
  3. Get a Benefit Code from
    • Select Manage your U-Pass
    • Select Get Benefit Code
  4. Inside the Umo app, select Redeem Benefit from the top menu
  5. Tap Change Agency and select the Victoria Regional Transit, thenenter yourbenefitcode to link your U-Pass to your app
  6. Scan the Validation Code on the Umo app when boarding the bus

Activating your Umo Card

  1. Pick up a card for free from the Library, þƵ College Student Society,or a BC Transit Umo vendor
  2. Obtain a Benefit Code from
    • Select Manage your U-Pass
    • Select Get Benefit Code
  3. վto create an account and register your card
  4. Once inside, click on the left menu, select Change Agency, and select Victoria Regional Transit
  5. Select My Wallet, thenRedeem Benefit Codeand enter your benefit code to link your U-Pass to your card
  6. Tap your card on the Umo validator when boarding the bus

U-Pass opt-out criteria

All students are automatically assessed the U-Pass fee. Under specific circumstances, a student may be eligible to opt out of the U-Pass. The Student Society manages opt-out requests. More information and the opt-out request form are available from the .

U-Pass for non-enrolled students

If you are taking a term off or have just finished your studies, you can extend your bus pass for one term with the Non-enrolled U-Pass. The Non-enrolled U-Pass costs $94 and is available for sale at either library during open hours. For more information, visit the .

What is the U-pass and who is eligible?

The U-Pass is a bus-pass issued to all students enrolled in one or more courses.

All students enrolled at þƵ are automatically assessed the U-Pass fee for each month of enrollment. The charges are in addition to your tuition.

Trade students, if your term is 6 weeks you will receive two 30-day benefit codes. Remember to activate the second benefit code after the first30 days of your term is completed.

Students enrolled in School of Access off-campus community partner programs are also eligible.

Are Dual Credit or ProSIT students eligible for a U-Pass?

No, Dual Credit and Professional Studies and Industry Training (ProSIT) students are not eligible for a U-Pass.

How long is the U-Pass valid for?

A U-Pass is valid for the period of enrollment. For most students, this is a term.

Can I use the U-Pass before my classes start?

You can get access to your benefit code 10 days before the start of your classes, but the U-Pass is not active until the first day of the term when you start your classes.

How long after classes finish can I use my U-Pass?

Your U-Pass is active until the last day of the month.

Do I still need to get a þƵ ID card?

You will still need a þƵ ID card to access certain college services, show you are a student, and share þƵ pride.

How do I switch to using a Umo card instead of the app?

Pick up an unactivated Umo card from the library or a BC transit vendor. Then call Umo Customer Service at 877-380-8181 and ask them to transfer your Upass from the app to the card.

What do I do if I forget my login credentials?

If you forget your login credentials, it is important that you do not create another account. Select “Sign In” and then either “using my mobile number” (and change location to Canada) or “using my email address.” Follow the prompts on the app screen to reauthenticate your account and log in.
